Over the weekend we took Ella to the Field Museum to see a puppet show as well as celebrate boy-BFF's 5th birthday. To kill time before the show we took in the new Crown Family Play Lab.

It's amazing!! There was a whole section for getting hands on with specimens, microscopes, and fossils. Fossils coming out of your ear! Or in my case, eye.

Ella was off playing with her friends, but soon wandered over to the science area for some alone time. The grrl needs alone time once in awhile. So once she ventured into Mama's area, I asked her if she wanted to learn about fossils. She took the bait...er..said yes.

We had a great time with just half a table of fossils. I explained how they were made, how sandstone was made and did some basic observations of a trilobite fossil. It was uber-geeky nrrd grrl fun!!
