Ella on guns
A conversation that I had with Ella on the way home:
E: Mom, what happens when you shoot?

Me: Um, what? What do you mean shoot?

E: I mean shoot. What happens?

Me: Well when people get shot, they get hurt.

E: They can die too, right?

Me: Um, why don't you tell me what you know about shooting and I can answer this better.

E: Well, shooting. Bad guys and bad girls shoot good people and hurt them, sometimes people die and that's not right. People shouldn't do that. I want them to stop.

This is so the first time I've ever discussed guns with Ella. I try to shield her from images of them, but it's rather hard to watch "Star Wars" without shooting. But she really was concerned about people shooting each other. She's been worried about strangers taking her away, outside or in the house, so I was worried about her worrying about guns. But so far it seems like it is just about the shooting.

I'm not sure if I even need to teach this girl about some issues. Watch out world!
