First we sweep the hated ChiSox and shut them out in their home! WOO-Fing-HOO!
Then last night as I was enjoying the highlights over and over I found out that
Rod Beck died over the weekend.
OMG, as a Cubs fan we often live and die by our closers. And Rod Beck didn't disappoint in the drama department. He had this weird thing where he'd let his arm dangle behind him while he figured out what he was going to pitch. Oh the intensity! 1998 was his year and it was the Cubs year. We won a spot in the playoffs by winning a one-game playoff at Wrigley against the San Francisco Giants. Damn, that has to be THE BEST game I've ever been at. I get chills just thinking about it. That whole year was amazing.
So thanks Rod. Thanks for the saves. Thanks for making 1998 a kick ass year. You were a sweet guy.
