Last week I went out with Ella and when we went back to the car it wouldn't open. The Prius has this system where you don't need to use a key to open the door, it recognizes when you are near with the key box. I have noticed that some days it just won't recognize. So I clicked the unlock button. Nothing happened. I clicked the lock button. Nothing happened. It was freezing out and I didn't want Ella to be out that too much longer. So I tried, for the first time, to use the actual key to get into the car. It didn't budge. Shit!
So I went into a store where we could warm up and I could gather my thoughts. The hubby was at a work function, but I called him anyway because I was out of ideas. Of course, he freaked and wanted to come get us right away. But I told him no, I'll figure it out and if not, get a ride home. Ella & I went out to try again. This time, I left her on the sidewalk instead of standing right next to me. That's whe I heard it:
"Mommy, that's *our* car!"
She says this anytime there's another Prius, so at first, I didn't think twice. Then she said it again and pointed.
Yup, I had spent 15 minutes trying to get into someone else's Prius.
Brilliant.
Ella of course loved it. She was laughing about how silly mommy was and I said, yes, mommy was very silly. I even let her tell the hubby all about it over his voicemail.
