I've lost my ability to focus the last month. My mind runs a mile a minute over a zillion things. When I sit down to blog, I think, I'll blog about this...or that...or this...both! No, wait...this.
I've finally gotten to the part on Latinas in
Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice and it's slamming me. HARD.
It's not that I didn't know a lot of the statistics that you get seeped in while reading, it's that I realized that I never let them really drive me and my activism. I've let my family's decision to assimilate push me away from organizing with other Latinas, from getting involved in Latina events, and more obviously, from speaking Spanish.
I had decided that 2003 and 2004 were such awash in new year's resolutions that I wouldn't make any for 2005. Instead, I'll just give 2005 a kewl subtitle.
2005: Year of the Latina
I'll try to focus on getting more involved in Latina politics, read more about Latina-focused feminism, and perhaps a little Mexico history. Oh, and yes...speak to Ella in Spanish more often. I found that I know a lot more than I realized once I had Ella. There's nothing better than yelling at your daughter in Spanish. *wink*
Perhaps my first step would be to finally perfect my cheese enchiladas.
