yoo-hoo!
Ah, the 3rd of July. An unofficial holiday in Chicago. A backwards holiday to boot. Everyone's on the road, but no one is at work. Where is everyone?
Well Chicago likes to have their big fireworks display on the 3rd of every year. They give the excuse that it's a good way for everyone to come out, have fun, and then spend the real holiday with family. Works for me. Or rather use to.
This morning there was more traffic than the usual rush hour. ack! Oh, well...hopefully with the fireworks & the Taste going on, no one will be headed out of the city. ZOOM all the way home.
The hubby and I still haven't created our own holiday rituals. Maybe cause we just kept doing what my family always did. Memorial Day - BBQ, 4th of July - BBQ, sunny day - BBQ. *lol* When they moved away, we really were left in the lurch. Now we just stay home guarding the homestead from our idiot neighbors who decide to throw fireworks everywhere and shoot off their stupid guns. I guess that is our 4th of July ritual - don't get shot.
Hope that your 4th of July is all that you want it to be! We'll be grilling tomorrow, I'm sure. Relaxing, reading, hanging out. Ah....
